Club Statement: Alan Horder
Cardiff City Ladies were saddened today to learn of the passing of Alan Horder, a great friend to the club who had been a coach within our junior sections and reserve team in previous years.
Alan was one of the volunteers who aided the club in their time of greatest need, hours before the start of the season. With the funds at the club at £0 and having been separated from a professional men's team 36 hours before our first game of the campaign and without a kit, Alan found a kit for us to borrow and supported us both on and off the field in the dark days of the football club. He also helped to save the club from going bankrupt by getting us onto NVQ courses, helping the club financially.
He was a massive brick in the building of our club and the Women's game owes a great debt to him as do many of the current international team today. Without the likes of Alan working tirelessly behind the scenes we may not have got past the troubled days of the past and there may not have been a Cardiff City Ladies to produce the talent in the subsequent years.
Our thoughts and prayers from everyone involved with Cardiff City Ladies go out to Alan's family at this sad time.
