Cardiff City Ladies suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to London Bees at The Hive.

Goals for Jo Wilson, Flo Gamby, Danielle Puddefoot, Chiara Lape and an own goal compounded a miserable afternoon for the Welsh side while they also lost Libby Piggott and Katie Jones to injury.

Wilson gave the hosts the lead as early as the 11th minute, racing onto a ball behind the Cardiff backline and firing a finish beyond Laura O'Sullivan.

The visitors had O'Sullivan to thank for the scoreline only being 1-0 at the break as she produced fine stops to deny Ward-Chambers and Hannah Porter before Gamby rattled the woodwork.

The first talking point of the afternoon arrived shortly after the interval when Ellie Sargent was through on goal, only to be tugged back by a Bees defender who only saw a yellow card for her actions.

Moments later and the lead was doubled as Cardiff failed to deal with a corner and the ball found its way to Gamby who, despite looking offside, slotted a finish beyond O'Sullivan.

Shortly after, the hosts were awarded a penalty and although O'Sullivan saved Puddefoot's initial effort, she was powerless to prevent the opposition captain smashing the rebound into the net and secure the three points with half an hour still to play.

Further gloss was added to the scoreline when a corner was deflected beyond O'Sullivan by a Cardiff shirt and then Chiara Lape grabbing a fifth from a low cross from the right.

Cori Williams grabbed a consolation with three minutes left but there was little to cheer for the Welsh side on a miserable afternoon in the British capital.
